Here’s an update video for our custom color collaboration with the amazing art anodizer @ashley.anodized.it ! I’ve landed on “AcidAllRoad” as the bike name. Dig it?

In its final form, the bike will take shape as an AllRoad build. We’re doing this one for fun, so there’s no customer yet. Maybe it’s yours? It’s built on our Large Standard geometry, so that’s approximately a 57cm frame for folks in the 5’10-6’1” range, depending on your preferences.

I don’t do many long-form videos, but I hope you folks find this one interesting. Beyond the custom bike eye candy, I’ve also included some information that people might find useful. Let me know!

Premium aluminum. It’s a thing. Every element of our frames is a serious exercise in form, function, precision and strength and aluminum forms the foundation of everything we do. That’s why CIRCA bikes are So F@cking Metal (SFM™).

Aluminum is a core element of our unique manufacturing strategy. Beyond being strong and lightweight, it’s very CNC-friendly, so we can make our own dropouts, lugs, bottom brackets and other frame details. We’ve got lugs hogged out of a solid blocks of aluminum billet. We also anodize those aluminum components, which we feel is superior to paint from a durability standpoint, as well as an environmental one. Finally, when your frame has lived a long life of adventure, the aluminum can be recycled instead of ending up in a landfill like most carbon frames.

On the form side, every surface, edge and line has been considered to harmonize with the rest of the frame’s visual language. Those little chamfers? They show up throughout the composition to knit everything together. The angled bores for the tubes all align with other aspects of the frame to create a coherent visual statement.

On the precision end, these are milled on 5 axis CNC machines (hence the name) to extremely high tolerances of 5 thousandths (0.005”) of an inch in some areas and a little tighter in others. Those tolerances serve a few purposes. The first requirement is bond-gap management. We’ve got very specific targets and this gets us there. The second benefit of that precision is the obvious one about your frame being straighter and truer than almost any other hand-built bike.

And it’s stout. Rigid. Efficient. Designed for power transfer. You put force into the pedals and the force gets translated into forward motion.

Great morning for some mixed terrain in Portland. Had to stretch a tight calve, so I figured I’d make the best of the time off the AllRoad and snap a pic or two. There’s a hilariously large stick (branch) holding up the bike on the other side that somehow managed to be somewhat hidden.
